IMD issues red alert as heavy rains lash Delhi-NCR and Mumbai today.

Parts of Delhi-NCR experienced heavy rains on Wednesday morning, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for most regions in the national capital, predicting moderate rain/thundershowers. Areas like Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram witnessed heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogging on many major roads.

Apart from Delhi, several other states including Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are also expected to have heavy to extremely heavy rainfall on Wednesday. Mumbai received rainfall with an orange alert issued for the city.

Specific regions in Maharashtra, including Pune, Ratnagiri, Raigad, and Satara districts, are under a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, while Mumbai is under an orange alert. Due to the heavy rainfall warning, Raigad declared a holiday for all schools and colleges on July 26.

Karnataka is on high alert, with red alerts in Uttar Kannada and Chikmagalur, and orange alerts in Belgaum, Shimoga, and Udupi. The IMD issued a flash flood bulletin, warning of potential flash floods in some parts of Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka.

In Andhra Pradesh, regions like Sri Alluri Sitharamraju, West Godavari, NTR District, Palnadu, Kurnool, and Nandyal are on red alert, while Prakasam, Visakhapatnam, and Srikakulam are on orange alert.

Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and parts of Telangana are also expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, with Telangana issuing red alerts for several districts and orange alerts for others. The Chief Minister of Telangana instructed a two-day holiday for all educational institutions in the state.

Odisha is likely to witness heavy to very heavy rains on Wednesday, with an orange alert issued for certain regions. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the coast until July 27.
