Review of the Fujitsu FMV UH-X laptop: Quick and lightweight performance.

Introduction :
Having developed a personal attachment to slim and lightweight Windows notebooks, I’ve come to appreciate their compact size and sleek form factor. However, I’ve often found fault in their tendency to compromise on certain aspects to maintain their slim profile, especially those that fall under the Rs 100,000 price bracket. When Intel offered me the opportunity to review the Fujitsu UH-X equipped with the 13th Gen Intel Core P series processor, I initially expected just another addition to the thin-and-light notebook category, not anticipating much. To my astonishment, the Fujitsu FMV UH-X laptop stood out amidst a sea of similar devices. In this review, I’ll delve into the remarkable features of the Fujitsu FMV UH-X laptop.

Made for Travel :
Weighing a mere 878 grams, the laptop boasts a lighter profile than even the MacBook Air, renowned for its featherlight design. The ingenious design incorporates a full-sized RJ45 ethernet jack, HDMI port, USB-A and Thunderbolt Type-C ports, a microSD card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, despite its slender build. My initial encounter with the laptop left me in disbelief due to its weightlessness, only confirmed when it booted up. Contrary to the usual trade-off between slimness and functionality, the Fujitsu UH-X delivers more than expected.

The array of ports eliminates the need for dongles while traveling, providing convenient connectivity for external devices. Notably, the laptop features a 1080p camera with a physical shutter for privacy, a welcomed inclusion that eliminates the need for makeshift webcam covers.

Bright and Colourful Display :
Featuring a 13.3-inch FHD screen with a 60Hz refresh rate, the Fujitsu UH-X offers an anti-glare display with up to 400 nits peak brightness and complete sRGB coverage. Touch support is also present, and while lacking a 360-degree hinge, the laptop accommodates up to 180-degree tilt. The panel impresses with its color consistency even when viewed from off-angles. Furthermore, the slim bezels on all sides contribute to the laptop’s compactness compared to its 13-inch counterparts.

Excellent Performance :
The variant I tested was equipped with the Intel Core i7-1360P, a 12-core CPU boasting up to 5GHz boost clock speed along with integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. Coupled with 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM soldered to the motherboard and a 512 GB NVMe Gen4-based SSD, the Fujitsu UH-X offers excellent performance for average users. The efficient cooling solution prevents overheating during extended use. Benchmark results on CrossMark and Geekbench 6 showcased solid scores in productivity, creativity, and responsiveness tests, as well as impressive single and multi-core CPU and GPU performance.

Solid Battery Life :
With a 64 Whr battery and support for fast charging via USB Type-C, the laptop’s battery life aligns with its size. While the claimed battery life of 16 hours per charge might be optimistic, real-world usage of web browsing or video streaming yielded around eight hours of battery life. The availability of two Type-C ports for charging, one on each side, would have further improved practicality.

Verdict: Worth Considering :
In conclusion, the Fujitsu FMV UH-X exceeded my expectations by not only meeting the criteria of an exceptional thin-and-light notebook but also surpassing them in terms of performance and battery life. For those in search of a new thin-and-light laptop within the Rs 100,000 price range, the Fujitsu UH-X proves to be a worthy contender, offering a blend of portability and power.
