Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are set to welcome 12 new units with a combined investment of ₹1,956 crore under the Visakhapatnam SEZ.

The Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ), based in the city, has approved twelve new proposals for the establishment of units in Andhra Pradesh (three) and Telangana (nine) within its jurisdiction. These units are poised to collectively invest ₹1,956 crore and generate employment opportunities for 2,943 eligible candidates. The majority of these units fall under the category of software companies, catering primarily to customers in Canada and the United States.

In Andhra Pradesh, the three units include M/s. Advait Biofuels Private Limited, specializing in biodiesel manufacturing, as well as M/s. Biocon Limited and M/s. Granules CZRO Private Limited, both engaged in pharmaceutical product manufacturing. These companies will operate within the combined Visakhapatnam district.

On the other hand, the nine units in Telangana comprise M/s. Purview India Consulting and Services LLP, M/s. Sigmasoft Infotech Pvt. Ltd, M/s. Cadeploy Engineering Pvt. Ltd, M/s. Inspire Brands Global Innovation Centre India Pvt. Ltd, M/s. Offchip Technologies P Ltd, M/s. Safran Aircraft Engines Services Pvt. Limited, M/s. Arowana Engineering and Survey Services India P Ltd, M/s. Astreya Consultancy India Pvt. Ltd, and M/s. FedEx Express Transportation and Supply Chain Services India Pvt. Ltd. These companies will be located in the Ranga Reddy district.

In terms of investment, the nine units associated with VSEZ’s sub-office in Hyderabad are projected to amount to around ₹1936.41 crore, leading to the creation of 2,736 job opportunities.

The products of all these firms are centered around information technology and information technology-enabled services. Key functions of the units encompass Strategy Services and Managed IT Services, IT Design and Development Services, Game-changing IT managed services, Repair, Maintenance and Overhaul Services of Mobiles, and Software Development, Maintenance, and Application Management Services, as highlighted by a VSEZ official based in the Hyderabad office.

Srinivas Muppaala, Zonal Development Commissioner of VSEZ, expressed to The Hindu that these 12 approved units received the green light during the first quarter of the fiscal year. They are expected to commence their operations within a six-month period, and there’s optimism that they might initiate operations even earlier, serving as a promising indicator for the initial quarter.

Established in 1989, the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone spans an area of 360 acres and has its headquarters located in Duvvada, Visakhapatnam. The zone serves the requirements of export-oriented units in not only Andhra Pradesh and Telangana but also in Chhattisgarh and Yanam.
