During the inauguration of the Mosque within the Telangana Secretariat premises, Chief Minister KCR emphasized the profound symbolism of having places of worship for different faiths coexisting harmoniously in one location. He lauded this convergence as a beacon of inspiration for the entire nation, highlighting that India should take a cue from this example. The Chief Minister offered his prayers for the peace and progress of Telangana from this sacred place.

The Mosque, built in the architectural style reminiscent of the Nizam era, occupies a total area of 1,500 square yards. The Temple and the Church, sharing the same premises, mirror the spirit of unity and mutual respect. The event began with the Chief Minister welcoming Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at the ‘Nalla Pochamma’ Temple, where he paid his respects to the deity and presented silk robes on behalf of the Government.

However, following the inauguration, there were initial challenges faced by worshippers. Security measures around the Secretariat created obstacles for worshippers aiming to attend the Fajr prayer at the Mosque. Police personnel prevented access to the Mosque initially, citing that it was not yet open for prayers. Videos circulated on social media depicted instances where worshippers were halted by the police, although they were eventually allowed to pray after intervention from senior officials.

Additional concerns arose due to insufficient water supply for ablution before prayers, underscoring the need for improved facilities at the Mosque. A committee responsible for the Mosque’s management was formed by the government, but its operational activities were yet to commence.

The demand from the Muslim community is for unrestricted access to the Mosque for all five daily prayers, including the Fajr prayer. Given that the Mosque is situated outside the Secretariat premises, security concerns should ideally be minimal. Calls are being made to the government to ensure that security protocols enable worshippers to attend prayers without hindrance.

In light of the challenges faced and the overarching message of unity from the inauguration, it is imperative to recognize the significance of religious harmony. For a society’s betterment and development, fostering understanding and cooperation among individuals of diverse faiths is essential. This landmark event at the Telangana Secretariat underscores the importance of respecting and accommodating various religious beliefs, thereby setting a positive precedent for the nation’s progress.
