This session, which marks the 13th session of the 17th Lok Sabha and the 261st session of the Rajya Sabha, is being organized for five sittings. The announcement was made through a tweet by Minister Joshi, where he shared the news and expressed anticipation for productive discussions and debates during this session.

Notably, the specific agenda for this special session has not been disclosed at this time. This announcement has come after the G20 Summit held in the national capital on September 9 and 10. The surprise announcement of this Special Session of Parliament has caught many political observers off guard, especially given that political parties are currently preparing for upcoming assembly elections in five states later this year.

The image attached to Minister Joshi’s tweet showcased both the old and the new Parliament buildings. The new Parliament building had been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28, providing an updated and modern space for parliamentary proceedings. It’s worth noting that the recently concluded monsoon session of Parliament had taken place in the old Parliament building.

Traditionally, the winter session of Parliament commences during the last week of November. However, the scheduling of this unexpected Special Session in September has deviated from the norm and raised questions about its purpose and focus. With the “Amrit Kaal” ahead, the government and Parliament are setting the stage for important discussions and decisions during these five days of the special session.
