The Bharatiya Janata Party criticized Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his remarks and questioned Rahul Gandhi’s stance, while the Opposition seemed divided on the controversy. The Congress, Trinamool Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Aam Aadmi Party distanced themselves from Stalin’s comments equating Sanatan Dharma to diseases.

The TMC condemned the remarks and emphasized the importance of religious harmony, stating that the Opposition bloc had no connection with such comments.

Congress leader Karan Singh strongly objected to Udhayanidhi’s comments, calling them unfortunate and unacceptable, while Congress general secretary KC Venugopal reiterated the party’s belief in “Sarva Dharma Samabhava.”

Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge criticized any religion that doesn’t promote equality, while Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi accused the BJP of hypocrisy in its concern for Sanatan Dharma.

Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya accused the BJP of exploiting the word ‘Sanatan’ for political gain.

Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Prahlad Patel, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Anurag Thakur criticized the opposition alliance for playing with Hindu sentiments and questioned their silence on the issue.

Ravi Shankar Prasad condemned Udhayanidhi’s remarks and criticized opposition leaders for their silence, while Anurag Thakur accused the INDIA alliance of engaging in the “politics of polarisation.”
