The Kalakshetram, which was designed by the renowned architect Hafeez Contractor, known for his work on numerous skyscrapers, was initially under the construction purview of the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC). However, in November 2022, the government entrusted the responsibility to the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA).

Chief Whip D Vinay Bhaskar, accompanied by MA&UD Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, conducted an inspection of the state-of-the-art auditorium, valued at Rs 75 crore. They announced that MA&UD Minister K T Rama Rao is scheduled to inaugurate it on September 9.

In an effort to address the city’s flooding issues, the MA&UD Ministry plans to launch the Strategic Drainage Development Programme (SNDP), aiming to provide a permanent solution to flooding problems within the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) limits, following the model of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Minister K T Rama Rao has expressed readiness to allocate sufficient funds for this endeavor.

Vinay Bhaskar also noted that KTR had already released Rs 250 crore for the rehabilitation of flood-affected areas. Plans are underway to construct a nine-story apartment complex near Sammaiah Nagar colony to accommodate residents prone to flooding and those displaced due to road widening in Peddammagadda.

The inauguration event was attended by Greater Warangal Mayor Gundu Sudharani, Warangal East MLA Nannapuneni Narender, Wardhannapet MLA Aroori Ramesh, MLC Baswaraj Saraiah, KUDA chairman Sunder Raj Yadav, and municipal commissioner Shaikh Rizwan Basha, among others.
