Prior to this incident, student unions had taken action by blocking buses affiliated with various private educational institutes operating within the university. They requested the students on board to disembark and join them in support of the bandh. Notably, both the BJP and Congress parties have expressed their solidarity with the Students JAC Bandh.

The backdrop to these protests is a prolonged demonstration by students who have been voicing their grievances for six days. Their primary concerns revolve around alleged irregularities in Ph.D. category-2 admissions. They claim to have faced physical force from the task force police during their protests and are demanding a rerun of the admissions process, coupled with the withdrawal of legal cases initiated against them.
