Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan” set a Hindi film record with over Rs 700 cr global gross in just one week.

Director Atlee’s “Jawan” starring Shah Rukh Khan is smashing records at the box office. After a stellar first week, it’s at Rs 328 crore in India and over Rs 600 crore worldwide, marking Hindi cinema history. On its seventh day, it added Rs 23 crore in India and a total of Rs 660.03 crore globally. “Jawan” is set to cross Rs 700 crore globally today.

It made a grand debut on Janmashtami with Rs 75 crore, peaked at Rs 80 crore on day three, and crossed Rs 100 crore worldwide in just three days. Even in its second week, it raked in Rs 32 crore on Monday and Rs 26 crore on Tuesday. Mumbai and Delhi-NCR reported strong occupancy.

Released in Tamil and Telugu too, “Jawan” boasts 15% Tamil occupancy and 23% Telugu occupancy. Directed by Atlee, it features Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi.

On the other hand, “Gadar 2” has slowed down at Rs 516 crore, close to overtaking “Pathaan” as India’s biggest Hindi hit. “Jawan” could surpass both. Bollywood’s recent hits signal a return to pre-pandemic glory, with Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dunki” completing his hat-trick later this year, alongside other successes like “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,” “Dream Girl 2,” “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar,” “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke,” “Satyaprem Ki Katha,” and “The Kerala Story.”
