“PM Modi claims KCR wanted to join NDA in poll-bound Telangana.”

During a rally in poll-bound Telangana’s Nizamabad, Prime Minister Modi addressed the political dynamics in the state. He mentioned that when the BJP won 48 seats in the 2020 Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, Telangana Chief Minister KCR sought support. Modi revealed that prior to these elections, KCR used to welcome him at the airport, but their relationship changed afterward.

Modi claimed that after the GHMC elections, KCR came to Delhi and expressed his desire to join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), requesting Modi’s support. However, Modi declined, citing concerns about KCR’s actions. In the GHMC elections, the BRS party (formerly TRS) won 56 seats, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen secured 43 seats, and the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious in 48 seats.

Continuing his criticism of KCR, Modi accused the BRS-led government of misusing funds provided by the BJP government at the Centre for Telangana’s development.

During the same rally, Modi also targeted the ‘INDIA’ bloc, accusing it of obstructing the women’s quota bill for many years. He praised the collective efforts of women in Telangana for the recent passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in Parliament and urged the ‘ghamandiya’ alliance (Congress and its INDI alliance) to support such bills.

Telangana is set to hold elections at the end of the year, along with other states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram. The state has been under the rule of KCR’s BRS government since its formation in 2014.
