Fire in Srinagar’s Dal Lake destroys multiple houseboats.

In Srinagar, a significant fire erupted in the tourist hub of Dal Lake on Saturday, resulting in the destruction of several houseboats. Although there were no reported casualties, properties worth crores of rupees were lost in the incident that occurred near Ghat number 9 of Dal Lake around 5:15 am.

The station house officer of the fire service, Farooq Ahmad, reported that upon receiving the call at 5:15 am, they swiftly responded to the scene. Approximately 5-8 houseboats and huts were engulfed by the fire, prompting a rescue operation with assistance sought from headquarters. While identifying the source of the fire, Ahmad assured that the situation is under control, and tourists have been successfully rescued. At least five houseboats and three huts suffered damage.

As the fire has been brought under control, efforts are underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
