The study indicated a rising trend in gaming as a viable career, with nearly half of Indian gamers earning between Rs 6 and 12 lakh annually in 2023, showcasing a significant increase from the previous year. The surge in sponsorships and esports tournaments was identified as evidence of substantial investments in the gaming industry, encompassing financial support and mentorship for gamers exploring diverse career paths.

Furthermore, the study highlighted the inclusive nature of gaming, transcending geographical and societal boundaries. A considerable percentage of Gen Z and millennials identified as serious gamers, with 75 percent and 67 percent, respectively. This indicated the widespread appeal of gaming across diverse age groups. The study also noted a growing diversity within the gaming community, with 58 percent of female respondents identifying as serious gamers.

In support of the burgeoning gaming industry, HP introduced the “HP Gaming Garage,” offering a free online professional certificate program focused on Esports management and Game development. This program, available in 12 languages, provides gaming enthusiasts access to curated modules aimed at enhancing their knowledge and skills in esports management, game design, and programming.

Earlier in the year, HP also launched Omen Playground stores across India, serving as hubs for PC gaming enthusiasts. These stores offer a platform for gamers to immerse themselves in the gaming world, connect with fellow enthusiasts, and improve their skills—all without any associated costs.
