During a media briefing, Hanumakonda Drug Control inspector J Kiran Kumar conveyed that the picramic acid employed in the formulation of henna in Warangal poses a health hazard. He elaborated on the identification of picramic acid in locally available henna paste and Karachi mehndi, emphasizing that samples gathered in Hanumakonda were dispatched to the drug control lab in Hyderabad.

The subsequent lab report confirmed the harmful nature of picramic acid to health. Kiran Kumar further disclosed the initiation of legal proceedings against the manufacturer of Karachi mehndi cones under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940. As a precautionary measure, the drug inspector strongly advised the public against using Karachi mehndi cones.
